Band2021 Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 Cedar Ridge has always been one of the most consistent bands in the country. But today regardless of what happens in finals they made their point that they are here to stay and will always be considered a threat. Miyazuu 1 Quote

MikeKyu Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 Well deserved Cedar Ridge. Music was the deciding factor. Tonight should be interesting as I believe some of the dirt from Reagan and CTJ will be gone. This is also a different sort of pressure on Cedar Ridge. Being the favorite going in to finals carries weight. I believe they are strong enough to carry that weight. Quote
lost Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 Color me surprised to see Foster in! Didn’t catch the contest on streaming but I’m happy to see a complete surprise in the finals field here. LostChoirGuy and MikeKyu 2 Quote
FaultLineBlues Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 Am I crazy or is Reagan not on the finalists schedule? There's only 11 bands listed. https://twitter.com/BANDSOFAMERICA/status/1576345009858744322?t=xKdnKFNXJQn5SHkO5z5dMg&s=19 Quote

BandFan59 Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 Would not be at all surprised to see the captions and placements in the top 3 be totally different in finals. Reagan and CTJ are in much better time slots too, but Cedar Ridge's show is phenomenal. Quote

Rubisco Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 One of the most interesting aspects of having 2 Houston regionals is seeing the drastic changes that occur just one week later with a different panel. Stephen F. Austin was 13th with a 70.45 just last week at North Houston, but is in the top 6 here. That's even more striking than the Pearland shift last year! LeanderMomma 1 Quote

But given that it's only a week, I think there's a big dollop of judges simply disagreeing with each other. This isn't DCI, where each band competes multiple times each week and we see the consensus form over time. For the most part, you just see bands once, and then again late season. We don't really know what the consensus is, and maybe never really do, given how few times the bands compete against each other. LeanderMomma 1 Quote

Expand This will be interesting when prelims scores are released but also note that penalties only effect a bands placement (overall) score. So Reagan still lost music and GE the biggest scoring metrics. I am trying to recall a time when a band only won the visual caption and placed 1st. If anyone knows of one please let me know Quote
