balumni2023 Posted March 5, 2022 Posted March 5, 2022 Not technically a show announcement, but L. D. Bell recently posted this teaser on their Instagram page, with more hints and info coming soon. Another thing I found interesting is that they have a new program coordinator, Lindsey Vento, after many years with Cartwright. Granted I don't know much about her (all of my years at Bell were with Cartwright) but I've been told she's designed for Blue Springs and Vista Ridge. Please correct me if I'm wrong lol I'm not gonna lie, I have no idea what this is. Maybe an insect wing? Quote

Popular Post Vandy_Insider Posted April 6, 2022 Popular Post Posted April 6, 2022 (edited) Vandegrift's 2022 show will be called "Into The Grid" Musical Selections Include - "Into the Grid" - Daft Punk (Source Material for MVT 1) "MACHINE" From Symphony #5 - William Bolcom (Source Material for MVT 2) "Adagio" - Daft Punk (Source Material for MVT 3) "Masks and Machines" - Paul Dooley (Source Material for MVT 4) "Hymn of Acxiom"- Vienna Teng (Source Material for MVT 4) Original Material written by Shaw and Markworth From my understanding the show will contain some experimental marching and attempt to create a 3D effect on the field using formations of props and marchers. I'm immediately intrigued by this. One of my (very few) criticisms of Vandegrift's show last year was that it didn't feel especially contemporary. These musical selections are definitely a shift! Just make sure the coolness of the show doesn't overshadow the art of it, if that makes sense. If I had to guess about the "experimental marching," maybe it's something that looks more choreographed and WGI-ish when moving from set to set? Honestly, that's probably the future of "marching" band. You still get the shapes from high up, but it's a bit freer and more fluid looking. Vandegrift always knocks it out of the park. I'm not that worried. Quote
