Lumberton lost 3 directors yesterday. This is a big hit to the program as we are nearing the start of several band camps in the upcoming few weeks. I have faith that they will be able to find good replacements before Summer Band.

Whoa! That's abrupt. Any insight on why 3 directors would leave at this time? District, personnel, administration issues? That's really a shame for the kids. Gonna be a tough year.

Just wanted to update everyone, Lumberton has gotten some pretty decent additions to their Director Team! One of them is even on The Cadets Visual Team or something.

How many kids are in the band now? Looks much smaller than past years. That’s crazy that they lost that many directors at one time. Hopefully they can recover, they were on the verge of becoming one of the best band programs in 4A in the state.

Rough guess would be between 100 - 120. 

I think Covid and Director Changes is what made the band get smaller, although they did place the highest so far at State, with a much smaller group.

Yes, it is crazy, but not the first time that has happened. 2017, we lost 3 directors as well.

I think with their latest additions, they could still become one of the best. Especially with a director that is a part of The Cadets Visual Team.

I am still expecting big stuff to come out of Lumberton this year and from what I've heard, everyone is excited.

and I absolutely agree with the number drop within the program.

Between 2017 to 2019 the band went from 180ish to 205.

2020, Band had 176

2021, Band had 120 in the show, about 150 altogether.

2022, like I said 100 - 120.

That rapid of a decline in numbers usually indicates some major issues, maybe with the lower grade band programs.

Those numbers are way off. The band has never been 200. Close when you count the drill team members that joined the show. Last year was way bigger than you said as well. So I presume you are wrong about this year.

In looking at some pictures from their Facebook, it looks like they have closer to 140-150.

We only have about 150. We did decently well this season, but fell short of expectations. Still made it to state though.

For sure! We often get lost in the numbers and clout but forget the small achievments.
