And it was meant to be their 2020 show if the pandemic wasn't a thing. I remember talking with their percussion director who showed me a MIDI of the opener and I was shocked. Fun fact, the opener didn't change much at all from 2020 to the final version

Hebron got hurt by the visual aspect, with higher placements going to Blue Springs and The Woodlands. Goes to show how one placement in a category can make or break a placement.

I’m mad about this too. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for Blue Springs, but I just didn’t see a universe where they placed higher than TW.

i think it would be insane because the 2 greatest marching show in my opinion where both that same year (hebron, and broken arrow) the show down would’ve been crazy

The thing that sticks out the most to me is the difference between Pearland’s individual and ensemble scores in semis between both music and visual. I believe it has to do with the amount of freshman they have on the field, they are more likely to pick a member with less experience.

spread b/w top 4 in semis = less than a point. see that's more reasonable for me.

Blue Springs was about 2 points back from the top 4 in semis.

Welp, to say the 2023 marching season was crazy is an understatement. Huge congratulations to all high school bands this fall. This will definitely go down as one of the most competitive seasons yet, with so many young musicians setting new high standards for this activity. For band parents in here, you should be beyond proud of your children in marching band. These kiddos are the future of not only music, but the future of America. Building this unparalleled discipline from a very young age will have a lasting impact on their lives. For current band members, your levels of commitment, discipline, and passion for this activity are very admirable. I have huge respect to you all since you proved that anything is possible with effort and commitment. Continue working hard not only in music, but in your future endeavors in life. I wish the very best for everyone in this forum. See you all again next year!

It's definitely a bittersweet moment for Bowie. Not a lot of people believed in them after San Antonio, but they did everything they could in the week going into Indy, and it showed!

I feel great as an alumni because on one hand they did way better than they did in 2016 (which was my senior year with them) but on the other hand I'm devastated for them because they were 3 tenths of a point away from being in everyone's conversation again.

But you know what, this is an extremely good sign for Bowie's future! I hope the next time they go to nationals (which will hopefully be sooner rather than later) they'll have an even greater show, get those visuals taken care of, and make history!  

Edit: Bowie was 12th in prelims. Ugh they were so close...next time they go they're definitely going to be in finals. Please come back to Indy soon!

As someone who watched their show at Austin, Katy, and San Antonio: San Antonio was actually the first time I believed that they could make Nationals finals. It bites to see that they were so close.
