You might want to curb the claim that the LISD schools received most points from GE and judges bias. That is very bold and unfounded. They are incredible programs that consistently do extremely well wherever they compete, in whatever competition format, and they do not deserve that statement. Support and cheer for Wakeland, but please do it humbly and graciously, without throwing negative shade on other programs. Expand Thanks for speaking up! I’m an LISD parent and was bothered by that earlier comment. I saw Wakeland at BoA SA Saturday night and LOVED their show. What a program! I met some Wakeland parents seated next to us and they were so supportive of all bands, so I know that earlier comment isn’t representative of the Wakeland band family. 🙏 euphplayer88, gregorydf01, moosicmamma and 1 other 4 Quote

They have been rocking every competition and have immense drive. They are competent, confident, and consistent. With these traits they will be a guaranteed medalist. I even believe they can beat the likes of Rouse and Cedar Park. Despite how BOA San Antonio went I’m confident that they can pull through and go for gold! Besides, the LISD schools had most of their points from GE and judge bias. I’m sure with UIL judges Wakeland will be on top! Expand Let’s not put down other bands in favor of others. These bands are talented, and truly have deserved the place they get. On topic though… I’m a huge Wakeland fan as well! I know they’ll do good LeanderMomma and gregorydf01 1 1 Quote

This is my last competition of the season (ever technically cause I’m a senior), and I couldn’t be any prouder of my band, Forney. We’ve been through so much this season, and I genuinely am glad I’ve had this opportunity for 4 years to be apart of this organization. I honestly regret not being in these forums sooner because y'all are genuinely the kindest people I’ve ever met. Anyway, enough with the blabbing. Good luck to every single 5A program who is competing! I genuinely love you all, and give it your best shot! - Kai Expand Congratulations, and best of luck in your performance(s) today! I know Forney will be amazing! Give it your all, and try to soak up every single second of it. I was a band kid in the Houston area, and my daughter was Guard at Wakeland. My mother was also a band kid in another state! We never really lose that passion for it. Look at me! I’m still around following this great activity (or if I may, I’ll call it a sport, because that’s exactly what it is), for all of these years. This is something that will always be here for everyone to enjoy, either as a performer (high school/college/DCI), or as a spectator. Good luck to you today, and whatever the outcome, just ENJOY the day, and this amazing sport we all love so much! gregorydf01 1 Quote

Glad to hear your other experiences with them have been more positive. Best of luck today to all the LISD and FISD schools, as well as to every high school competing. Bill_Hou Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Wow, Cedar Park, love how this show has progressed all year. The soloists are amazing, especially the euphonium player! TrebleMaker2 Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Cedar Park, this is just the coolest show! Maybe my fave that I have seen from this band in the past several years (and they have had some pretty amazing shows!) Wow!! Quote
TXguy512 Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Cedar Park was locked in today! Wow, what a run! Difficult drill that is looking clean at the right time, and music was tight today. Quote

I too have been a lurker and had no intention of registering to ever post anything, but I also felt as if I needed to say that WakelandSuperDuperFan does represent this group of amazing kids, parents and directors accurately. TrebleMaker2 Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 This block is incredible! Leander, you tug my heart every time with “Moon River” and I love the bit of whimsy added in the solos throughout. Well done! Bdc22 and LeanderMomma 2 Quote
Popular Post LeanderMomma Posted November 6, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 6, 2023 Great great run Leander. ThatOneRandomGuy Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Here are my top 3 predictions: 1. Rouse 2. Wakeland 3. Cedar Park Let me explain why I think Wakeland has a good chance. They lost to Leander by a point in the finals at the super regional, but GE killed Wakeland, and there is no GE. Also, I just like Wakeland's show a lot more than theirs. The tuba solo and trombone solo are cool, but their show just doesn't meet the expectations of that show! Quote
