Thanks for speaking up! I’m an LISD parent and was bothered by that earlier comment. I saw Wakeland at BoA SA Saturday night and LOVED their show. What a program! I met some Wakeland parents seated next to us and they were so supportive of all bands, so I know that earlier comment isn’t representative of the Wakeland band family. 🙏

Let’s not put down other bands in favor of others. These bands are talented, and truly have deserved the place they get. On topic though…

Congratulations, and best of luck in your performance(s) today! I know Forney will be amazing! Give it your all, and try to soak up every single second of it. I was a band kid in the Houston area, and my daughter was Guard at Wakeland. My mother was also a band kid in another state! We never really lose that passion for it. Look at me! I’m still around following this great activity (or if I may, I’ll call it a sport, because that’s exactly what it is), for all of these years. This is something that will always be here for everyone to enjoy, either as a performer (high school/college/DCI), or as a spectator.
 

Good luck to you today, and whatever the outcome, just ENJOY the day, and this amazing sport we all love so much!

I can’t tell if you are intentionally trying to be annoying or if you really are that exasperating in real life but please stop!  I really like Wakeland too but you are definitely putting a damper on my enthusiasm. 🥴

Absolutely! I have been a “lurker” here for years, just reading what everyone has to say, but I had to sign up to say something in this case. I could not let that stand for all Wakeland supporters. Glad to hear your other experiences with them have been more positive. Best of luck today to all the LISD and FISD schools, as well as to every high school competing. Every one of them has worked extremely hard to get here. What an absolute HONOR for them all to be competing at the Texas State Marching Band Competition! I was not fortunate to get this far as a student-performer, but my daughter was, and they are memories she will always cherish (as will I).

Wow, Cedar Park, love how this show has progressed all year.  The soloists are amazing, especially the euphonium player!  Really going to be a hard fought and well earned victory for whomever makes finals and gets the top placements!

Cedar Park, this is just the coolest show! Maybe my fave that I have seen from this band in the past several years (and they have had some pretty amazing shows!) Wow!!

Cedar Park was locked in today! Wow, what a run! Difficult drill that is looking clean at the right time, and music was tight today.

Thank you for speaking up!  I too have been a lurker and had no intention of registering to ever post anything, but I also felt as if I needed to say that WakelandSuperDuperFan does represent this group of amazing kids, parents and directors accurately. 
 

As a current Wakeland band mom I know we wish all bands good luck and hope that everyone performs well.  And I know that this poster is not a current Wakeland student because the posts were made while they were on the field practicing.  So while we appreciate your support, please make sure that you are not doing it at the cost of other bands.

This block is incredible! Leander, you tug my heart every time with “Moon River” and I love the bit of whimsy added in the solos throughout. Well done!

Great great run Leander. And watching Jeremy Spicer interview his two Leander kiddos from the sidelines afterwards made me a little teary. He’s obviously a proud dad, as he should be. 💙 They are great human beings and wonderful soloists!

J.M. Hanks is the surprise of the day for me so far. They are loud for their size and tight! Huge guard. Don’t sleep on these guys and gals!

Hanks was lovely to watch especially the Guard. Forney is much improved since BOA Prosper, I enjoyed their performance

Great Job Forney!    Loved it, definitely a crowd favorite and one of my favorites!

Was very clean and I see a top 1/2 of finals on this one possible.   The joy and excitement shown by the band after the performance was sooooo genuine and fantastic to see!

Here are my top 3 predictions:

 

1. Rouse
2. Wakeland
3. Cedar Park

 

Let me explain why I think Wakeland has a good chance. They lost to Leander by a point in the finals at the super regional, but GE killed Wakeland, and there is no GE. Also, I just like Wakeland's show a lot more than theirs. The tuba solo and trombone solo are cool, but their show just doesn't meet the expectations of that show!

GE is essentially content / design so there is a similar caption present, admittedly not weighted similarly but it’s in the same vain.
