Tubalord11 Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Also, really sad finals got canceled. We’re still planning on going, but seen the forecast for the rest of the evening It’s understandable. Quote

TenerSacs Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Ngl Churchill was really at a disadvantage for these results. We were the only finalist band who performed in the heavy rain. We had no mics so our front ensemble and synth were non existent as well as woodwind soloists. We also had many people whose instruments were messed up before we even started because as we were walking over to perform we were getting poured on. Also pretty much everyone with glasses was marching blind due to the rain. A lot of us were really mad we didn’t get a redemption run to show the judges what we could really do. Quote

gregorydf01 Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 I remember chaperoning with Vista Ridge at BOA Dallas in 2012 and then again at BOA Austin in 2013 and the same thing happened and did not do well enough to make finals. The heavy rain has a large affect on the band it's a shame for the band to not be able to present fully as they are able. But with these things the bands have to do the best they can under the circumstance. Churchill can hold their heads high on a great performance and doing so even with the rain. They still also ranked well in the competition and that is quite a accomplishment given the rain! BandAlumMom 1 Quote

Popular Post bingogooberman Posted October 29, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 29, 2023 I’m pretty sure this Wylie’s first BOA regional finals appearance EVER if you can believe that- and they nearly won! Congrats to them celesta, JazzRun, Dallas Hobbs and 2 others 5 Quote
DukeDirtfarmer Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 What a crazy event! Seemed like a bunch of bands didn't participate in the drum major retreat which was disappointing. There were parents in the stands saying that some bands had ten of thousands of dollars worth of equipment ruined in the rain. Heartbreaking if true. Quote
