Nice programs attending! Some new programs such as Cypress Ranch, Some returning programs that didn’t compete here in 2022, but did In 2021, like Cypress Woods for example. Lots of Katy/CFISD, representation. I can already pinpoint some guaranteed finalists besides the Woodlands, Cy-Fair, Dawson, Friendswood, Cy-Woods, Seven lakes, As far As the 12th spot I’d love to see Cy ranch get into finals, or possibly JET.

Top four is a tough call -- I could see any one of those bands winning this show with the right show and performance.

I’ll throw mine in bc why not! I think Cy-Woods is going to become a new regional champion this year!! Of course I could see 7L, Cy-Fair or maybe WE take this one, but I’m rooting for Wood! I think 7L will win prelims and then Woods will jump up in finals:

After looking at Dawson’s BOA Conroe results from last year, I will definitely move them up on that list, BOA Katy definitely wasn’t their best run but I do see this band in finals.

Yeah, I mean for the most part these are just predictions, Cy-Falls seems to have gone down hill ever since 2021, BOA Katy wasn’t great for them last year getting placed Lower than Cy-Parks High School, and then UIL wasn’t any better for them last year as they went from 8th in 2021 to 12th in 2022. But I have seen their recent performances in football games and I can say that I have confidence in their resurgence. 
James E Taylor is a dark horse that I can see popping into finals, i know that BOA Conroe last year wasn’t great for them, but I’m confident that they can pop into finals.

Just watched Cy-Ranch at their football game against Cy-Woods, I can gladly say that this band is definitely someone who I think is someone to watch out for in the upcoming future. Oh and Cypress Woods Sounds amazing!

To be honest, I really don’t know, I’ve not really heard of these bands nor seen them.

Speaking only on shows that I’ve seen (some with, some without audio) 

in performance order: 

Cy Woods: huge band, clean, same vibe as last year. Big drill moments and of course big sound to match

JET: interesting departure in concept from last year, feels more like a JET show from 2017/18. Better sounding this early in the season than usual

Jordan: growing band with huge visual and musical demand. Harder show than last year and a bigger field presence. Look forward to seeing them

SFA: I’ve only seen an early season video and i think the show needs to be more fleshed out for sure. They’re marching and playing fine but i think they have a better shot at doing better at Katy than Conroe. It has the Same idea almost as the cedar park show. 

O’Connor: lovely western ish show, outlaw, the cage fronts work to convey the theme well. I think they took a page out of the trooper’s book with this one, take that as you will!
 

Klein Oak: very impressed with them this year again. Looks like another glowup like last year but a step above. Cool props, not sure if they’re fountains or pots but they’re intriguing. Look clean and sound great too!
 

Cy-Fair: love this show concept. Their character delivery especially in the opener is incredible! The ballad hit is powerful coupled with a cool visual moment. I expect they do well here!

Dawson: I haven’t seen anything recently but early season reminded me of early season Dawson from last year, which should bode pretty well for them I think? We will see. 
 

Tompkins: From the football stream: nice big sound, interesting concept, like the 2021 show. Same colors too.  Look forward to them cleaning their show! 
 

Clear Brook: Brook is back to the darker shows which they tend to do better with competitively. Love the luggage cart props and the musical selection!

 

Friendswood: only saw an audio-less run from them but they are not doing anything in the same realm as last year thematically I think. All red uniforms, like the mandarins this year. Visually clean but can’t speak to their music. 
 

Looking forward to this contest next weekend!

Oaks props are fountains

Yes, Klein Oak's props are fountains. We put in a lot of work this past Saturday and have a lot more work this week to hopefully make it more apparent than it is now by this weekend!

Looking forward to it! Like I said in the katy thread, this contest could go any number of ways. Currently I only have 6 locks for finals. My bubble of bands is undoubtedly over 10 bands for the last 6 spots. Everyone will have to put their best foot forward and perform their hearts out come Saturday!
