here we go! tomorrow is the day where we see these bands take the field! fortunate for me, I will not be spending my money on a streaming service that can’t even film marching band, but unfortunately for me: my love letters to uil went unnoticed. i will be watching these forums while I am at school and rehearsals for super regionals this weekend. good luck to everyone performing and attending!

Don’t sleep on Cypress Woods. They came out on top for Area I at both State and BOA SA last year despite the others beating them at Area. If they have an “on” day, they are fire. They are playing very difficult music very well. They beat Fair in prelims at Area this year (admittedly their finals run was not as good as their prelims run). 

They are a great band too....so lets cheer for 3 to make it!!!! disrupt the norm!

Today we see 43 of the best 6A schools in the State of Texas! Today determines which of these 43 bands will advance to the Finals of the UIL State Marching Contest of conference 6A. Best of luck to all and I can't wait to see how everything unfolds!

First band of the day already sounding great! Way to go, Wylie East! I would NOT want to be a music judge at this contest. 😬

The high cam isn't bad. Unlike Box 5, the picture is clear on my phone and likely HD quality. Sound is good, too. The only thing is that the frame rate looks ever so slightly below 24 frames per second, if 24 fps is what "real life" looks like. Not that bad, though, just ever so slightly slowed down. Hopefully they at least maintain this quality. I'm sure multi-cam is more frustrating with the choice of shots they make.

CTJ with  a full minute pre show - I thought I missed the announcement.    They fully had their first hit before the announcements.     The sound was huge!   Soft colors and a lot of dulcet movement in stark contrast to previous years.     They can flat out march.  
 

wiley east with a lot of choreo- and props that actually were electronic!   Smallish band but a lot of creativity.

CTJ had a little bit more dirt than I was expecting- but there is SO much to love about that show! They will be in excellent shape for Grand Nats, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them miss finals here. I absolutely loved the Eras Tour-inspired moment with the guard at the end with the quote of Firebird!

Oh, gosh, no more annoying band interviews, please! We get enough of that from BOA!

CTJ was solid, much improved over Katy. Interesting choice to perform almost the entire opener before the announcement, but this is also the first time I've seen them do a proper ending! (Was that the Freebird guitar solo on sax at the end? Love it! 😄) At times, like during the ballad, they sound like the CTJ you know. Full, rich, dynamic sound. For me, it's more the visual program that's kind of bare bones this year design-wise and not executed as cleanly as usual. Both drill and guard still need some work. Nevertheless, they still have a strong shot at finals here.

Watching on a 65 inch TV via ROKU and looks less than 480 resolution and very skippy frame rate, around 20 FPS.    Box 5 is much better on the TV.   I sent a note to Note to NFHS Support to log the issue.

Dickinson with an Under the sea vibe - nice sound.   Great colors.    Not as loud as CTJ but a beautiful program nonetheless.   Nice drill shapes    Loved the Jaws reference !    Incredible program !    Super creative!

Loved the Visual of the Shark Fin going through the waves to the Jaws theme!   Great show and it was performed very well!

Okay, Dickinson, I see you. That was a great performance! Did you see how uniform their guard was at the end spread out across the entire field? Wow! Great sounds and drill, too! Loved the Jaws reference.

Timber Creek was definitely clean and loud- they’re making an excellent case for finals! I’m interested to see how their show will be received by a design judge, which would be the only question for finals left in my opinion.

Very good work by Timber Creek! Strong Texas sound. Looking forward to seeing that guard in WGI. Some pretty tricky stuff in there!

Yeah, I could see this picture being choppier on a bigger screen. But it does seem at least 720p on my phone in terms of clarity.
