Walnut grove projected to be 5A no? At least from what I've heard from pretty reliable sources

Do you know what are they would be in if they are 5A. It's obviously gonna be B or C, but hoping it's C with how good Area B is already.

They are going to be opening up as a 5A School. They currently have plans on doing 5A Area (If they advance). Just dont know which Area Contest yet.

Right, got my calendar dates mixed, and its ProsperISD so they will be Area B since WEast moved from Area B 5A to Area C 6A, and for my prediction just move everyone up and is still valid.

This is the most interesting 6A area to me, followed by area H. Lewisville, Prosper, Wylie, and honestly McKinney all strong districts overall. I’m going to ignore WG because they will almost certainly be 5A. I think this is becoming if not already the most competitive 6A area. I wonder why the don’t host in McKinney or Prosper. I definitely plan on attending this contest. I can definitely see programs like Lewisville or especially McKinney HS moving up into finals in the future. And I feel like the Wylie schools get stronger every year but we’ll see. I think Allen and the Plano schools could be finals band but idk who they’d beat to get there. Very interested for this contest.

I personally think that Area B, C and D are all tied for the most competitive areas. All 3 top to bottom have bands that are the top level or close, especially the finalist. I’m planning on attending a 6A area contest for the first time, and am debating between this one and B, such a hard choice

McKinney High has been working their asses off and their feeders are getting stronger which also benefits Boyd, and their new head is much more fit than the previous so they will definitely be in finals, but its gonna be 2-3 years before they can have state potential in my opinion, but once they get to that point and when North eventually becomes 6A competition is going to be extremely cutthroat and could see one of the powerhouse districts besides LISD being switched to area B.

Prosper would likely swap back to Area B, McKinney North has no guarantee to become 6A until the new middle school begins and is built, so to lighten the overall competition for the bottom 3 spots it would be best as Prosper would also still be competitively viable in B (or make a new area).

I really hope Mckinney can make finals this year. I was really devastated when they didn't in 2021 after having such a successful year at their other comps, seems like they also do well are at least make finals at everything but area, so hoping they make it this year.

They have had a rough 2 years with their head director being a goober and overall bad luck with feeders, but its looking great for them and all McKinney schools with strong freshman all around and an increasing standard of quality. Boyd and North Im confident will make state and while I dont believe state is reasonable for high this coming year, area finals is definitely in the picture and considering they havent made it since 2016 (7 years now), that is fantastic to see for their growth.

Their show is also very interesting with 2 of the selections being Blue Shades and Rhapsody in Blue, so again, while personally I dont see them making state, I will comfortably put them in the 10-13 range

I could see Plano Sr. making it to state, will be interesting though to see if Braswell can make a return to finals again. Their show last year was really good imo!

Personally I dont see Plano Sr. in top 6, but dont get me wrong, there would be nothing more amazing than experiencing the total shock with not only a massive dark horse, but it being a Plano school which hasnt dominated since like the 90s-2000s, so Im all for it lol

I mean Ive heard their fine arts director is really trying to bring the plano bands to their former glory, so honestly if more than one showed in finals I wouldnt put it completely out of the picture

Area B is in my opinion the toughest, but its a close second honestly, the top 3 battle each other than the next 5 is a bloodbath, area B is a bloodbath between the top 5 and a bloodbath between the next 4 haha
