Popular Post Tubalord11 Posted September 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 30, 2023 Good afternoon everyone! We are here at Wylie Pirate Stadium! It’s H-O-T, but so far the bands have been handling it just fine! I did miss DeSoto unfortunately. Lebanon Trail- Ice Castle: Great show! Soloist we’re incredible! Big and powerful opening hit. Love the showcase of all the different sections, and that ballad was beautiful! Cant wait to see that again tonight! Oh and the pianist during pre-show killed it! Great job LT! Tubalord11 Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 Reedy- Uncharted: The improvement in this program is really good! Definitely have a real solid shot at finals, some tuning issues in the brass, especially towards the end and other things here and there, but they sound way better than they ever have before, and Ik they’ve got a way better performance if they make finals. Great job Reedy!! Mom0220 1 Quote
Tubalord11 Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 Midlothian- the gift of giving: I love my Xmas shows in this Texas weather! Some really nice music sections, soloist were very good! Another band with some issues dealing with the sun, definitely potential to make finals but they probably will be a couple out. Very excited to see how this show is when they clean up a bit. Great job Midlothian! Mom0220 1 Quote

Tubalord11 Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 Birdville- Please stand by: really great stuff from Bville! Looks like they weren’t in full uniforms due to the heat. Good soloist and woodwinds, brass was also good, needs some tuning but I think this show has some potential to do very well late season. Really enjoyed that ballad as well, great job Birdville! Tubalord11 Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 Walnut Grove- symphonic sessions: for a first year program they sound so good! I really loved the variety of music, guard was fantastic, and I think they will soon rise to the likes of RH and Prosper. Could definitely see them slipping into finals, a couple rough patches at the end but I’d love to see them again this evening! Definitely could see them being a finalist at area, especially with how clean they will be. Great job WG!!! Mom0220 1 Quote
JazzRun Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 Yes, thank you @Tubalord11!! I’m usually volunteering at WMI but couldn’t this year due to Family Weekend at UNT. Best of luck to all of the bands, and I hope Wylie High has a great run in exhibition! Tubalord11 and Mom0220 2 Quote

They got drill pretty late so closer was delayed, glad to hear them doing well! Quote

Popular Post Tubalord11 Posted September 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 30, 2023 McKinney- the 2nd dimension: Wow! This might be the best sounding group from in a long time (not including 2021)! That guard was absolutely stellar, soloist were on fire (loved the soprano sax SO MUCH)!! Definitely a dark horse for 6A area C finals….maybe state 🤷♂️ Either way incredible performance and very exciting to see that again, great job Mckinney! Mom0220, Dave609 and JazzRun 3 Quote

Tubalord11 Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 Allen- space theme show forgot the name 😭: Great sounds all around! I did expect them to sound a little louder for their size, not a bad thing, but boy they sound good! They are doing as much as they can drill wise with that big of #s and it shows! Great soloist and guard, would love to see them again tonight! Definitely could see them sneak into area finals! Great job Allen! Mom0220 and JazzRun 2 Quote
Popular Post Tubalord11 Posted September 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 30, 2023 Lovejoy- Glow: Great job!!! They definitely are lacking that omph from recent years, but they still sounded great! Soloist were incredible, that’s some difficult drill they killed! Expand Yeah, I do think your points are fair. It’s hard to judge a show that’s not the standard marching show, so it’s kinda hard to. I think they sounded really good, I’m not paying to a ton of attention to the bands drill bc I’m not super good at reading shows drill wise, especially live. But I loved it Mom0220 1 Quote
Tubalord11 Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 Lake Ridge- both sides of the Rainbow: wonderful performance! Really great sounds all around, tad bit of dirt in high brass but that’s expected in this heat! Soloist were great all around, loved the trumpet, and drill was very clean. I think they can bring a better performance tonight, but all around very good! Wonderful job LR! Mom0220 and frenchhornnn 2 Quote
Tubalord11 Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 Also, I’m gonna go ahead and put my personal rankings! All of these bands sound and looked great, and all deserve to be in finals, but unfortunately they it doesn’t work like that: Flomo Lonestar Lebanon Trail McKinney Boyd Mckinney North Lake Ridge McKinney Lovejoy Reedy Allen 7th-10th could definitely change, really this is just a guess but at this point I have no idea what’s gonna happen Mom0220 and TrenBS 2 Quote

Expand How would you stack them in comparison to previous years? If you feel you can give an opinion, some have said they didnt enjoy this show as much as last 2 years but they looked better this early than last year at WMI Quote
Tubalord11 Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 I think better than last year, not yet as much as 21 and before. It’s hard since it’s so early and only up to the ballad, but I think it will grow on me and others as the season goes on, I’m personally very excited to see how things shape up for them, should be another great season!
