What is the best policy for students who forget their stuff during inspection prior to football games and even competitions? In your bands, how do you make an effective rule/warning/consequence for those who forget their things so they won't do it again? For next year, I want my band peers to start taking more accountability of their things, and I think this is one of the first steps in improving that.

Seems fairly common sense. No equipment, no play.  Our leadership has told students if they don’t have water bottles, they will be sent home. Its a safety concern.

Grace can be had, teenagers forget things but if it becomes a pattern and habitual, they have to learn.

It would make sense for bigger programs, for ATSSB bands that have under 100 students marching, they can't really do that considering the size of the bands and how detrimental a hole would be

Makes sense too. No easy answer really. Appreciate directors that put health over program. *knock on wood* the hottest temps of the year should be behind us now!
