I also loved the quality of the phrase shaping in the ballad, especially the mellos with the melody😩 This is my favorite bell show in the past couple of years. Quote

I loved Dville Duncanville just blew me away with the super high quality of their ensemble’s sound. Like WOW so full, strong and mature. That high brass fanfre in the beginning stunned me because it sounded like a pro wind ensemble. Like omg the trumpets handled their exposed technical passages throughout the show so well. Lol I appreciated the confidence that the wind players demonstrated throughout the performance and I really liked how SLC uses their large size to create so many complex and impactful formations on the field. I think, By virtue of them doing this they’re creating a more challenging simultaneous music + visual environment which raises the level of the performance considerably. Quote

I think the woodwinds did such an impressive job adding shape to those ascending-descending 16th notes in the opener. There was this “arch” shape to them that I was very impressed by. And omg in the closer I was so floored by how they handled that brass fanfare with the triplets in the high brass juxtaposed by the accented quarters in the low brass. I was charmed by their playful theme this year (that 8-bit drill set was unique and really cool!) I thought they demonstrated a powerful sound for such a relatively small group. I was taken aback by how potent the brass sounded in that hit at the beginning of the closer. The woodwinds were splendid at playing strongly and allowed the audience to enjoy the quality of their finger dexterity. I thought visually the props and drill formations portrayed their theme nicely and they executed their marching well enough to allow the effect to shine through Quote
