3A champ -Mt Vernon(I might’ve heard this wrong  I ran to the bathroom because it was taking forever)

4A

3rd - NL

2nd - Canton

1st - Celina

Celina swept captions except for marching. Canton and Celina tied

5a

3rd Emerson

2nd argyle

1st liberty

I’m blanking on 5A captions. I think argyle got most but I know liberty got at least one, probably music based on the ranking

6A

caption sweep by RC

3rd - arlington

2nd - south grand prairie

1st - RC

I just found out our band made it and our time so someone should be posting a list like they always do. I don’t have that.  Gotta hit the road as have a 50 min drive. Couldn’t go to prelims

I couldn’t catch the rest because I only caught a quick glance at the sheet. The scores were all over the place. One judge had an eight way tie in one category. Hopefully they will be posted soon so I can really study.

I am from Canton, and we’ve always been opponents to argyle when they were in 4A. Watching their show last night was actually so much better than they have been in past years, I do think they deserved what they got. Props to the alto soloist he is a GREAT player as well. Another thing I saw was melissa, everyone from Canton thought they should’ve been placed a bit higher. They were a huge crowd pleaser and were very good. I think balance is what got them though sadly

Congrats to Argyle on the dub, was not surprised that they jumped to 1st and swept, and congrats to Liberty on 2nd and for Emerson on 4th! They are quickly on the rise to the likes of other top FISD schools! and of course congrats to all our finalist, nice to see Canton in after not making finals at Melissa

I honestly can see Argyle placing top 3 in area B. Probably the cleanest they have been ever this part of the season. Melissa should of been top 3 at least.

I need to watch them, but after seeing many of the top bands in area at Wylie and watching Wakeland's performance online, I can comfortably say that Wakeland and Lonestar, at least imo are locks. I'd be surprised if Lebanon Trail wasn't in, but I think the issue with North is that while they sound and look good, it's definitely way more of a boa show than UIL, so I'm not sure how to feel about them ,especially seeing them dropping to 7th last night. Definitely will make finals but I feel like it's really a battle for the 3rd/ 4th spot between a good amount of bands.

I watched lonestar last week at melissa. Oh My God. They’re definitely a contender. I’m from a 4A, so not sure how judges really judge the big schools, but at melissa they swept all except percussion caption. They played tank, it was awesome to witness

When Argyle was in 4A, they never had that kind of power. They really took a step up in all departments of their show and I think it is heavily benefiting them

I think a lot of it has to do with their stride to be competitive in 5A considering the fact that they wanna be really competitive in everything they go to. I think that it is for sure showing in their show design this year with lots of progress being made. I could for sure see them being in the top 3 at Area this year since I do see them jumping a lot of good bands this year, I could even see them pulling off an upset and winning Area this year (although idk if they will beat Wakeland or Lone Star considering how much bigger they are). I think the thing that people think will be a disadvantage for Argyle is their size since they are very small for a 5A band since they just got realigned last year from 4A but I think that they could overcome that with Argyle growing at such a rapid rate. I think this weekend will be very good testing point for Argyle at the McKinney Marching Invitational since there are 2 6A state contenders (Wylie and Wylie East) that they will compete against. It will for sure be a challenge for them to beat them, but I think that it is possible that it can happen and if they do beat them, honestly I could consider them making a very good run at state this year but who knows what will happen, I am very interested in seeing how people predict this contest this weekend once the predictions are up and ready to go.

I do agree with you, Lone Star certainly did better at that competition since they did very well in prelims and finals since they got both 1st in prelims and finals while Argyle kind of struggled a little bit in prelims in Princeton but did a lot better in finals in a very similarly competitively leveled field of bands. The thing that gets me with Lone Star is that they are fairly consistent in the scoring category and I think will make state finals. Argyle can be inconsistent, but when good, they are dangerous (Ex: 8th in Area prelims but then 4th in Area finals). I think if Argyle gets a meh run, then Lone Star will beat them, but if Argyle gets an amazing run in finals, then I could see them at least have a shot at beating Lone Star. But still, they are 2 amazing bands and I do think that both will make state, right now I have Wakeland 1st, Lone Star 2nd, Argyle 3rd, and Lebanon Trail 4th at Area but we'll see what happens, the speculation is part of what makes marching band so exciting.

Not sure how good Lebanon Trail or Wakeland are. Argyle is known for being consistent late season. They will clean up for sure, but they are also doing a lot harder of a show than years past.

Lebanon is really clean, definitely top 4 right now, and Wakeland will definitely win again, they are just Wakeland. I could see Argyle getting 3rd with Lonestar 2nd and Wakeland 1st
