dj_sanders Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 i was looking at some high school shows and wanted to know what the best ones yall have seen Quote
pancake Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 there’s the very obvious ones like vandy 19, hebron 19 and 21, blue springs 18, etc. but my favorite of all time is coppell 2019. the vibes are immaculate, amazing drill, music and that trombone flugel duet is soo pretty. Quote
Tubalord11 Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 I think my top 3 are BA 2014, Hebron 22 and Marcus 21! Adagio from Spartacus is one of my favorite orchestral pieces, and I think they have done it the best for a marching band, and I wish I’d gotten to them live. I did get to see Marcus and Hebron live these years. Hebron has a mainly bc of the Trombone solo, but it’s just such a powerful ballad. Marcus’s ballad put me to tears after seeing them at gn finals in 21. Those 2 mellophones were just out of this world, and it really pulls at you feels. MrMusic5002 and Keenoid 2 Quote
LostChoirGuy Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Three that come to mind on the top of my head are: Marcus 21 Hebron 17 Keller 16 But I'm also a sucker for a great underrated ballad from lesser known groups. Keep the suggestions coming so I can go back and enjoy them again! Keenoid 1 Quote

bancl Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Keller does ballads as well as anyone, but Keller 16 is an all-time great for me. Hebron 15 is legendary of course! Quote

MisterNick Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 I forget which band performed this, but it was from the 2012 5A State Marching Contest. It was a really beautiful arrangement of Ravel's "Pavane Pour une Infante Defunte" and I felt it really did the original justice. Quote
2ndgenbandmom75 Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Marcus 21 was amazing but have you heard their ballad from this year? I feel like it's one that will be talked about for a long time. 😍 Keenoid 1 Quote

clarinetistkai05 Posted February 3, 2024 Posted February 3, 2024 Forgot to give my opinion, but one of the main ballads that I’ll forever remember is Poteet 2019’s ballad. It was a show that I genuinely never have forgotten, and the ballad makes it one of my all time favorites. Quote
