The last six placements of Star of Indiana

1993 - 2nd

1992 - 3rd

1991 - 1st

1990 - 3rd

I was thinking more along those years.

Only recently? Have you listened to past Blue Devils shows, haha.

I forgot to mention that I was comparing their older shows to the new ones. I really do hope they refrain from the trumpet-solo obsessed style of show that they have seemed to be obsessed with the last 4-5 seasons. It's awesome, but throwing the trumpet solos in at periodic intervals gets rather repetitive... and besides, the overwhelming focus makes it very hard for the excellence of the other sections to be proven. Ensemble... the Cavvies have proven how important that is.

when Crown came to my school to do all days (they were at my school for a month... no joke. it was awesome) I just loved to sit down and listen to the music.

When people said that was probably one of the best Crown hornlines to date, they weren't kidding... it was definetely the loudest (that I've been exposed to)

As far as DCI corps are concerned: it's SCV full tilt. They will always be my sentimental favorite. No one but no one has done pageantry like SCV.

1987 defined SCV for me, followed closely by '89, which I saw live. Ahh, the days of Gale Royer.

A member of the SCV 1989 brassline is on Frontier visual staff now. We are learning so much from him.

I'd take 88 SCV over the 89 version of Phantom of the Opera, any day.

and if you have to tell me to pick a show to define SCV... I'd pick 89 or 91.

98: Aaron Copland - The Modernist... should have won... simply put.

91: Miss Saigon... well I just love the music, and SCV did it with such passion... I would have put them in 3rd, behind Star (duh) and Cavies (91 is my favorite Cavies show ever)
