1. Santa Clara Vanguard - Phantom of the Opera 1989

2. Phantom Regiment - Defiant Heart: The Music of Dmitri Shostakovich 1996

In random order:

Boston Crusaders - 2003 - An unusual pick, but the crusaders really sold the show that year. Fast paced drill, a massive snare line and a loud as crap hornline bring it all together.

Cavaliers - 2000 - This show was about as close to perfect as you can get as far as design goes. The drill and music are so complementary of each other, and every little detail makes perfect sense.

Star of Indiana - 1993 - If you have never seen this show, you need to. It is minimalism at its best. I love the random colorguard equipment, and random body movement. The music makes all the visual randomness seem logical.

Cavaliers 2002 - Frameworks

Cavaliers 2000 - Niagara Falls

Phantom Regiment 1996 - A Defiant Heart

Santa Clara Vanguard 1989 - Phantom of the Opera

I know there's 4 but these are my all time favorites, minus a few more

I really agree on that. Not only was the drumline huge, it was pretty clean. And the hornline played some ballsy stuff that year. Most def. my all time favorite BAC show, and probably my favorite 03 show.

OK, top three, lets go

1. 2002 Cavaliers (that's coming from a Cavie hater)

2. 1993 Star of Indiana (let's face it, that show's years ahead of OUR time)

3. 1996 Madison Scouts (Come on! A Mis Abuelos, Malaguena, need I say more?)

I think I like these because they all push the edge of the "norm" of drum corps in there own ways. Cavies did it visually, Scouts did it musically, Star just completely changed the standards of everything. Standard uniforms, standard drumming style, standard visuals, standard guard usage, standard props...etc.

I am going to change some of my top 3:

1) 1995 Madison Scouts--A Drum Corps Fan's Dream (part uno) (same)

2) 1991 Star of Indiana--Roman Images (was Cavaliers '02)

T-3) 1987 Santa Clara Vanguard--Russian Christmas Music (was Cadets '00)

T-3) 1992 Blue Devils--Big, Bad, and Blue

Posted

my top picks would be:

1) A tie between Madison Scouts '95 and '96. they are my favorite shows of all time

2) Cavaliers 2000

3) Bridgemen 1980 (Old School!)

The Bridgemen show is friggin hilarious.

I think I learned what drugs do to drum corps designers from that show.

Yet another reason why I'll stay sober. I am NOT putting a chicken in my drum corps show.
