Xenon Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I love how MSNBC looks like absolute crap in Firefox. Quote
sax5warrior Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 its a good thing people are living longer...but why such an increase when the farm days when you need 10 children are gone and when you have birth control and all that jazz Quote
Minimaster Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 The farm days are gone where you live, but not the rest of the world, think more globally. Quote
CHS King Mello Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 according to the rules of biology, it's going to HAVE to stop sooner or later. Earth will have reached it's maximum carrying capacity, and somehow, we just wont get bigger. I dont know when that will be, but the rate of growth isn't going to remain. according to that graph, around 2050, it's going to begin to level out, at around 9 billion. That's crazy. -C Quote
Xenon Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 We could fit all 6.5 Billion people in Texas and each one would have 1152 sq.ft. all to himself. That is a large apartment! And that is assuming only one story apartment buildings and each kid having 1152 sq.ft. of their own too. Even at 9 Billion people, that is still 832 sq.ft. each. Quote

The Malthusian principle states that we can reach above carrying capacity , then a sharp decrease and slowly an S-curve will form centering on that carrying capacity and will continue until carrying capacity is changed. oh the joys of AP Environmental Sciences Quote

You have to realize that 1/3 of the population of the world is in two countries: China and India. China has birth restrictions for families, but it's so big and so rural it's almost impossible to enforce. India... who cares? Have as many children as you want. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think India just passed China in population. Quote

bariphonium Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Check out Discovery Science sometime and you might see a show on a proposed idea for population growth. Most are large buildings that put people in the only direction we have left to go: up. Either buildings have to go very up very fast, or we need to reach for the stars. I don't see either one happening in the near future. Quote

I saw something similar...gosh, it was on TLC but i dont remember, it was a building that could house over 100,000 people and provide restaurants and shopping centers. Supposed to be 1 mile high and in Tokyo too by 2050. Quote
